A Gothic Romance at Bath Guildhall: Ru & Nath's Unforgettable Wedding Day
Some wedding days simply leave a lasting imprint on your heart—and Ru and Nath’s was one of those truly unforgettable celebrations. I had the absolute pleasure of capturing their stunning goth-themed wedding in the heart of Bath, and what a magical day it was!
From the moment I arrived at Bath Guildhall, I knew this wedding would be something special. Nestled in the historic city of Bath, this Grade I listed building is nothing short of breath-taking. Built in the 18th century, the Guildhall exudes elegance and charm, with its grand chandeliers, antique furniture, and intricately detailed ceremony rooms. Although the rooms are intimate in size, they are rich in character—creating the perfect backdrop for Ru and Nath’s alternative celebration of love.
The couple brought their bold vision to life with striking details: a dramatic black wedding dress for the bride, a dapper, macho groom with a serious presence and a tender heart, a black bouquet, and even a coffin-shaped ring box. The wedding party, all dressed in black and dark navy, added to the gothic aesthetic, while the love and emotion in the air softened the dark tones with warmth and heart.
One of the most memorable moments? When Ru and Nath decided who would give the first speech—by playing rock, paper, scissors! The entire room erupted in laughter. That fun, spontaneous energy echoed throughout the entire day and perfectly captured the spirit of the couple. Their speeches were heartfelt, emotional, and deeply personal, moving guests—and each other—to tears.
Following the emotional ceremony, we took full advantage of the beautiful surroundings of the Guildhall, capturing some timeless portraits in its elegant halls and on its grand staircases. Then we moved to a nearby park for a more relaxed shoot. Ru and Nath’s personalities truly shone here—especially with the groom’s dad enthusiastically stepping in as our honorary shoot director! His infectious energy had all of us laughing, and his support helped create the perfect atmosphere for some truly candid, magical moments.
Ru and Nath’s wedding was the perfect example of how meaningful, personal, and wildly fun a day can be when it truly reflects the couple at the heart of it.
