First of 2025: Winter wedding at scenic Gonville Hotel Cambridge
Why I Love Winter Weddings!
There’s something truly magical about winter weddings. The crisp air, the soft winter light, and the cosy, intimate atmosphere all come together to create a unique and beautiful setting. This wedding was nothing short of spectacular, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you!
A Perfect Winter’s Day
Despite the chilly temperatures, the weather couldn’t have been better. While winter weddings often come with the risk of rain or snow, we were lucky to have a dry and clear day—perfect for capturing those unforgettable moments. The golden winter light added an extra touch of magic, making the photos even more stunning.
Getting Ready for the Shoot
I first heard from Saoirse a few months before the wedding, and from the very first conversation, I knew this was going to be something special. She was warm, confident, and had a clear vision for her wedding photography. She wanted something less traditional, more edgy, and full of personality.
This was a little different from my usual style, but I absolutely love a creative challenge! As a photographer, I thrive on capturing a couple’s unique love story, and Saoirse’s vision gave me the perfect opportunity to experiment and push creative boundaries.
The Stunning Gonville Hotel, Cambridge
The venue for this incredible day was The Gonville Hotel in Cambridge, and let me tell you—it was a dream to photograph. If you ever find yourself in Cambridge, this is a place worth visiting! It’s a perfect blend of modern design with classic elegance, offering a sophisticated yet cosy atmosphere.
For wedding photography, the hotel provided a stunning variety of backdrops—from stylish interiors to beautiful outdoor spaces. It was the ideal setting for both group and couple portraits, adding that extra touch of elegance to the photos.
A Relaxed & Creative Wedding Shoot
Unlike my usual full-day coverage, which typically includes everything from bridal prep to the first dance, this wedding had a more laid-back and intimate feel. There was no rush, no pressure—just a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere that allowed us to get truly creative with the shots.
With plenty of time to experiment, we captured some truly unique and breath-taking images that reflected the couple’s personality and love story. It was an absolute joy to be a part of their day, and this wedding reminded me once again why I love what I do.
Winter weddings might not be for everyone, but for those who embrace them, they offer something truly magical. If you’re planning a winter wedding and want photography that captures the beauty, mood, and personality of your day, I’d love to hear from you!
