Some weddings are beautiful. Some are emotional. Some are unforgettable.

And then… there are weddings like Rachel & David’s, which feel like pure magic from start to finish.

I first met Rachel and David at the beginning of the year, when they got in touch about photographing their intimate summer ceremony. From the very start, it was clear their day wasn’t about traditions or expectations - it was about them. Their wedding ceremony took place at St Peter’s Catholic Church on Jewry Street in Winchester, a truly majestic building steeped in history. Dating back to the 11th century, St Peter’s is one of Winchester’s oldest churches, known for its striking architecture and deep spiritual presence - the perfect setting for a ceremony that was just the two of them, quietly and beautifully focused on their love story.

I had the honour of capturing that intimate moment, and then - to my absolute delight - they reached out again later in the year, asking me to photograph their celebration with family and friends. And honestly… that second chapter was just as magical.

The celebration took place in Winchester, surrounded by a close-knit group of loved ones. Despite the rain, the atmosphere was nothing short of enchanting - if anything, the weather added to the romance. As I stepped into the pavilion, I was instantly wrapped in a cosy, winter solstice-inspired dream. The scent of pine and eucalyptus filled the air, with carefully chosen décor of mistletoe, ivy, holly and herbs. Fairy lights twinkled across the room, candles glowed softly, and orchestral Disney soundtracks played in the background, setting a truly magical tone.

Rachel looked absolutely breathtaking in a simple white gown with a dramatic train, a soft feather wrap over her shoulders and a delicate white flower crown. As she walked beneath an archway of fairy lights, she looked like something straight out of a fairytale. David complemented the winter theme perfectly in a rich green velvet jacket, tying everything together beautifully.

The ceremony itself was heartfelt, personal, and full of laughter - with plenty of happy tears too. It felt like the perfect counterpart to their summer solstice ceremony earlier in the year, two halves of the same love story coming together.

The evening continued with a warming hog roast, keeping the winter solstice theme alive, before ending with a ceilidh - a traditional folk dance filled with energy, laughter, and guided steps so everyone could join in. Guests clapped, cheered, danced, and celebrated alongside Rachel and David, creating an atmosphere I’ll never forget.

This wedding was truly something special - and I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of such a magical, meaningful day.

may have been curious about winter weddings before… but after this one, I’m a true believer. When a day is built around you, your story, and your connection, the season doesn’t matter — it becomes pure magic.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels intimate, atmospheric, and deeply personal, I’d absolutely love to be there — camera in hand — capturing the next chapter of your story. 🤍✨
